Giving Thanks: Our Favorite Thanksgiving Marketing Campaigns

Thunderfoot Team

Gobble, gobble, gobble! Get your fill of branded content — just in time for Thanksgiving.

Incorporating holiday-themed content into your seasonal marketing plan is a great way to engage with your audience while showing off your brand’s fun side.

Seeking inspiration for your November initiatives? Check out our five favorite campaigns surrounding the season:

1. Wix — A Home Cooked Meal and Holiday Crafts

Planning a public event to celebrate a holiday or special occasion can increase brand awareness while helping you get to know your target audience on a more personal level. Last year, Wix gave thanks by hosting a free dinner for members of the San Francisco community.

2. Postmates — Mom’s Friendsgiving

Postmates is celebrating the season by compiling one-of-a-kind recipes from those who do Thanksgiving best: moms! For their “Friendsgiving On-Demand” campaign, the brand compiled a shareable collection of delicious holiday recipes as well as the lists of ingredients needed to make them. Of course, all of the ingredients are conveniently available on-demand from Postmates!

3. NYC Miracle — Star-Studded Spot

Starring Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal, this light-hearted commercial aired during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade back in 2001. This humorous and meaningful ad was part of a larger campaign to bring visitors back to New York City for the holidays following the tragic events of 9/11, featuring the endorsement of the city’s then-mayor, Rudy Giuliani, and the “NYC miracle” movement.

4. Stovetop — Artisanal Hipster Pilgrim

Sometimes the best holiday-themed content is simple and straight to the point. Drawing from the millennial generation’s obsession with “selfies,” this Stovetop ad pokes fun at the trend while promoting its famous turkey stuffing with a clever, punny slogan.

5. Publix — Here’s to Thanksgiving

Publix is known for its heartwarming and sometimes tear-jerking ads, and this Thanksgiving-themed commercial is no exception. The popular supermarket chain captures the sentiment of the season with a montage of holiday scenes — and a few choice shots of the appetizing food available for purchase at Publix, of course!

Whether irreverent, heartwarming, or even a bit kooky, these five brands all won us over with their Thanksgiving marketing campaigns. If you’re looking to develop similarly inspiring content, just remember to stay true to your brand — authenticity always shines through, especially on this humbling holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
